Christian Beliefs: Statement of Faith
OUR BELIEFS
WE BELIEVE in one God, the Maker and Creator of the world and all things visible and invisible. This belief in God asserts that God is the LORD – the Great I AM, the only true living God and everlasting King. The true God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ and exists as a Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Spirit. References include Exodus 3:14-15; Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 44:6; Jeremiah 10:10; John 10:30; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Acts 2:33; Acts 14:15; Acts 17:24.
WE BELIEVE in the LORD God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was begotten of the LORD God by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary. Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah (Christ) from God, affirming our Christian doctrine. Supporting scriptures include Isaiah 11:1-10; Matthew 1:1, 16-17; Mark 14:61-62; Luke 1:26-38; John 4:25-26.
WE BELIEVE Jesus is Lord of all and God, in unity with His Heavenly Father and God the Holy Spirit. Key scriptures that uphold this doctrine are John 1:1-5, 14, 18; John 10:30, 38; John 14:9-11; John 17:5, 21-24; Acts 2:36; Acts 10:38; Romans 10:9; Colossians 2:9-10; 1 John 5:20-21.
WE BELIEVE the living LORD God sent His Son Jesus to earth to save the world from their sins and grant eternal life through faith in Him. This belief is rooted in Matthew 1:21; John 1:29; John 3:16.
WE BELIEVE that to know and understand the living LORD God, and to find peace and reconciliation with Him, is possible only through His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Scriptures supporting this belief include John 14:6; John 17:3; Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; 1 Timothy 2:5-6.
WE BELIEVE the Lord Jesus Christ rose from death through His Father and the Holy Spirit on the third day. Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of His Majesty Father in heaven, as supported by Luke 24:1-12; Mark 16:19; Acts 2:36; Romans 1:3-4; Hebrews 1:1-4.
WE BELIEVE in Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. We hold to the belief that one day, the Lord Jesus Christ will return in judgment and salvation, as noted in Matthew 26:64; Mark 14:61-62; Luke 23:26-50; John 20:1-10; Acts 1:9-11.
WE BELIEVE that we are saved by faith alone in God’s only begotten Son, Jesus; this is a core aspect of our statement of faith as we continue Jesus’ good works as His disciples, sharing His Good News with the world. This is detailed in Matthew 5:1-16; Matthew 28:18-20; John 13:34-35; Ephesians 2:8-10.
WE BELIEVE that the first man Adam sinned, leading to the Great Fall of humanity and bringing sin and death into the world. However, the second Adam – Jesus, brings new life, healing, and forgiveness of sin through faith in Him, as found in Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:45-49.
WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit, the Giver of life, is sent from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ through our faith. The Holy Spirit is indeed God and inspired the prophets and writers of the Holy Scriptures, according to Genesis 1:1-2; Genesis 2:7; John 3:3-8; John 14:15-17; Acts 1:4-5; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21.
WE BELIEVE in a Triune God and in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins in the Name of God the Father, God the Son Jesus, and God the Spirit, as described in Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.
WE BELIEVE that God does not show prejudice but accepts all people from every nation who love, honor, and obey Him, doing what is good and right, as stated in Acts 10:34-36.
WE BELIEVE that salvation and forgiveness of sins are found ONLY in Christ Jesus. Jesus, the Savior of the world, was sent into the world by the living LORD God as a Man to redeem humanity from sin through His sacrificial death and resurrection. God desires for everyone to be saved, encapsulated in Matthew 1:21; Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; Luke 2:10-11; John 1:1-5, 14, 18, 29; John 4:42; John 16:28; Acts 2:24; Acts 4:12; Acts 5:31; Acts 13:38-39; Romans 5:8; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 2:4; 1 John 4:14-16.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus came to unite all people as one with Him, as the Chief and Good Shepherd of the Church by the Holy Spirit, referencing John 10:11, 14-15, 16; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:28; 1 Peter 2:9-10.
WE BELIEVE in the final resurrection of the dead and the final judgment at the end of the age, supported by Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-15.
